You might say that Verlin was born into the construction industry. When he wasn’t helping on the farm, he stayed busy, doing construction, building his first shed after school hours when he was only 9 years old. Along with his five brothers and three sisters, his family moved a lot, between several states and Costa Rica. At 21, he decided to leave his family and head to where he heard everything was bigger – Texas. His passion for quality and excellence led him to join Ulrich in 2009.
Verlin’s critical thinking and left-brained personality helped him rise through the ranks to his current position as Vice President of Finance. When he is not watching the bottom line, Verlin spends his time enjoying the outdoors, from hunting and fishing to cycling, and most recently completing the Cowtown Marathon.
Growing up with a father who had an undeniable passion for horses, I fondly remember his skilled hands, shaping raw steel into horseshoes as a gifted farrier and horse trainer. This deep-rooted love for horses became vividly etched in my memory one poignant evening in Scottsdale, Arizona, when, despite his battle with cancer, we watched Secretariat together – the awe-inspiring true story of a horse that overcame incredible odds to clinch the Triple Crown.
After the movie, my dad mustered strength, a monumental task given his condition, and slowly rose from his chair. His feeble steps slowly came my way, and in a soft voice that held a world of meaning, he said, “I just have to give you a hug.”
Today, I carry forward my late father’s legacy – the founder of Ulrich Lifestyle Structures – by channeling his passion into providing top-quality barns befitting these majestic creatures.
